TAG- Confucius and JTB Start Chinese Language Classes for Tour Guides

The one-of-a-kind course will present a comprehensive study in Chinese language specially designed for tour guides who seek to focus on Chinese tourism and culture

AMMAN--------January 24, 2012------ Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG- Confucius) announced the commencement of special Chinese language classes designed for tour guides and financed by the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB).

The one-of-a-kind course which started today will present a comprehensive study in Chinese language specially designed for tour guides who seek to focus on Chinese tourism and culture.

Mr. Mustafa Al Husseini, TAG-Confucius director said:"We are extremely happy to cooperate with JTB in providing courses to tour guides. This one month course is based on flexibility as it can be extended according to the needs of the Board’s participants. TAG- Confucius has designed and worked on providing the required material for the tour guides to be used during their work."

Tag-Confucius and other Chinese language centers were invited to submit an offer to the Jordan Tourist Board and, however, TAG-Confucius was selected as the best choice.

Meanwhile, Ms. Ruba Shahzada, HR Manager at JTB said:"We are extremely excited to cooperate with TAG-Confucius one of the leading Chinese language institutions in Jordan. We are sure that our tour guides will benefit from this course and what comes after it."
She added: "We believe that our cooperation with TAG-Confucius will be one of the key elements in enhancing tourism as more Chinese tourists will be encouraged to visit the Kingdom as the language will no more be a barrier."

Around 25 tour guides are taking part in the first course which will cover Chinese basic conversation, Chinese culture, vocabulary and writing.

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute was established in September 2008 to promote the Chinese language and culture, in order to reach a better mutual understanding between Arab and Chinese cultures. This is one-of-a-kind initiative based on the cooperation agreement between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and the Confucius Institute in China.
