An interview with Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh on Sharjah TV
Abu-Ghazaleh Calls for Establishing an Arab Unity
We have no differences in terms of language, culture, values and history-- Abu-Ghazaleh
SHARJAH ------- December 15, 2011 ---------- HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) affirmed that the successful and booming experience of the United Arab Emirates, which was followed by the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council states represent the nucleus of the Arab unity, which is long aspired by every Arab citizen.
“I can see that both of them give us a good omen and hope for the future that this union is possible, and their successful experiences give us a lesson in unification,” stressing that there is no obstacles that prevent the establishment of a comprehensive Arab unity, as there are several common factors that bring us together.
“We have no differences in terms of language, culture, values, history and location, or even in terms of the sentiments of love Arabs hold for each other and fervor over national issues,” he added that “the European countries have succeeded in establishing their union in spite of the fall of millions in wars between them, not to mention existing differences in languages, culture and customs," he said.
"As an Arab, I am particularly proud that I had the privilege to live the whole experience before the unification and through the development phase of the union as well as its success until the Union became a stable and prosperous state headed by the President and his fellow members of the Supreme Council of the Union, as well as the gracious early founder of the union HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan AlNahyan, – may God rest his soul- who realized from the beginning that the unity was possible and he got what he wanted and the Union was successfully established and later followed by the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).”
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh was talking at the “Funds and Business” TV program broadcast on Sharjah Channel – on the occasion of the “ The 2nd International Forum on Patents Licensing and Technology Transfer in the Arab region”, held in Sharjah under the auspices of HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh explained that holding the forum in the Emirate of Sharjah came in honor of the Patron of the Forum "the Prince of Science and Knowledge," whom we pride ourselves of as a scholar and governor with several contributions in the cultural, scientific and educational fields.
Speaking about the forum’s results, he said: “All the recommendations I submitted in my capacity as Chairman of the Forum have been adopted and all of them focused on turning innovations into commercial products as there is a severe shortage in our Arab societies to support creative Arabs, underlining that no one is really concerned about turning his creation or innovation into a product.”
He added: “I submitted an integrated plan of action to help the innovators turn their creations into productions and linking them to investments, noting that the plan explained means to dispose of the products. Also, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out in this regard that youth in the Arab world have a lot of potential in the field of inventions, as the world depends today on cognitive inventions and wealth is built through information and communications – in other words through the "knowledge revolution".
Abu-Ghazaleh added: “We want to encourage our young people to use information technology to create knowledge and to turn it into a product so as to create wealth”.
