ASCA Delegation Visits Dubai Municipality

Discussions focus on professional cooperation means with the Financial Control Department

DUBAI------- December 5, 2011-------- A delegation from the Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA) discussed means of cooperation with Dubai Municipality in the field of training courses and professional qualifications provided by ASCA to the Municipality’s staff. Discussions focused particularly on the Arab Certified Professional Accountant (ACPA) certificate which is the only internationally accredited Arabic qualification that is subject to the international accounting standards and local legislations of each country.

ASCA delegation met with Mr. Saif Al Shamsi, Director of Financial Department at Dubai Municipality, where training programs in accounting and auditing for his Department’s staff were also tackled.

Mr. Al Shamsi welcomed the delegation, praising the success achieved by ASCA since its establishment and emphasizing the Municipality’s endeavor to cooperate with ASCA.

At the conclusion of the visit, Mr. Fahm Al Mousa- ASCA Executive Director- presented an honorary shield to Mr. Al Shamsi in appreciation of his efforts in serving the accountancy profession in the United Arab Emirates.

ASCA delegation also visited the Financial Control Department of Dubai government and met with Mr. Yaser Al Ameeri- the General Director of the Department- who highly commended ASCA efforts in serving and developing accountancy and auditing professions and indicated the Department’s wish to develop its services in cooperation with ASCA.

The meeting also included a presentation on the professional qualifications and training courses provided by ASCA in the fields of training, auditing and accounting as well as translating professional publications and membership privileges.

On his part, Mr. Al Mousa welcomed the cooperation with Dubai Municipality and the Financial Control Department of Dubai government which aims to provide the labor market with accountants, auditors and financial professionals who are qualified to meet work challenges.
