TAGITI’s Participation in Jordan’s First E-transactions Forum
The forum addressed E-transaction concepts, challenges and concerns and highlighted the need for greater legislation and enforcement to encourage the use of such technologies to bridge the digital gap with advanced economies, as well as the need for cooperation and knowledge transfer in this field and its effect on business operations.
Amman---------November 22, 2011-------- Mr. Shahid Halling, TAGITI’s IT Security Services Manager, was invited as a key speaker to the E-transactions Forum in order to discuss ‘E-transaction development and socio-economic impact’ at the event.
The forum was attended by many leading institutions in Jordan and the Arab region and highlighted the importance of e-transactions to businesses and the value that such technology provides. There were many academic and professional speakers invited to the conference who spoke about various subjects related to e-transactions and e-commerce, who discussed a wide range of challenges, concerns and upcoming technologies surrounding these key areas. There were also roundtable discussions with business representatives, academia and solution providers, which showed that the level of maturity of such an area is improving in the Kingdom and that there is a concerted effort to tackle this area head-on.
“It is important to discuss the challenges of e-commerce usage in the region and the need for clear legislation, enforcement and user awareness regarding how to use such technologies in a safe manner in order to promote usage and ease fears. The Internet is here to stay and is certainly the most effective way to conduct business nowadays. Such events are needed to identify the local challenges of such technology adoption and allows the various stakeholders to come together to put forward practical solutions for these issues” said Mr. Halling.
Various governmental entities, including the Ministry of ICT were also invited and their role as a champion in such an area was discussed as well as the role of financial regulatory bodies in order to control Internet fraud, have the correct mechanisms in place to detect malicious behavior and their roles in promoting the usage of such technologies regionally.
