Lebanese Prime Minister Receives Abu-Ghazaleh

Discussion addresses the newly established Lebanese Network for Scientific Research and Education

BEIRUT --- October 24, 2011 --- Lebanese Prime Minister HE Najib Mikati received a delegation representing Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) headed by HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of TAG-Org.

In a statement to the Lebanese National News Agency, HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said: “I had the privilege of meeting PM Mikati and brief him about the services we conduct in Lebanon, especially the new network that links Lebanese universities with research centers which we have just launched. This network is part of a regional Arab project “Arab States Research and Education Network”. This project is chaired by the Arab league Chairman and was funded by the European Union. Today, we have announced the establishment of the Lebanese network to become an effective part in a regional network, which will be linked with others in Europe and North America.”

Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Dr. Hassan Diab who also attended the meeting addressed the launch of the Lebanese Network for Scientific Research and Education.

Moreover, Lebanese Prime Minister and HE Abu-Ghazaleh discussed several issues related to the national Lebanese economy.

“We addressed means of utilizing used computers as we have established the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Computer Refurbishment. Through this project, TAG-Org would act as a focal point to the Arab region for creating refurbishment capabilities and providing “PC donations” and refurbished secondary PCs to underprivileged populations in remote areas. There are hundreds of thousands of computer devices which governments don’t know what to do with them as they are not useable. Our project refurbishes these computers; makes them useable by the society mainly for education,” Abu-Ghazaleh said.
He added “We also discussed with His Excellency our readiness to provide technical support to government entities in the field of public auditing.”
“We also highlighted the significance of the international public sector accounting standards, which we translate into Arabic; conduct their marketing and training on a regional level. We also support all government entities to apply such standards which if implemented would put to an end all disputes regarding right and wrong in the accounting system,” Abu-Ghazaleh concluded.
