IFAC Future Activities and Work Development Tackled at TAGSB
AMMAN----- July 26, 2011------ In cooperation with the Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA/ Jordan, Ms. Azza Raslan, member of the International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB) affiliated with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), gave a lecture at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Graduate School of Business (TAGSB) on IAESB’s future activities and work development.
Ms. Raslan introduced IFAC and its role in developing accounting and auditing sciences and presented the action plan of IFAC for 2010-2013, through which IFAC seeks to develop a series of high-quality standards to ensure the development and evaluation of the skills of professional accountants.
Ms. Raslan indicated that IFAC is currently revising the International Education Standards (IES), showing the effects of each standard separately, as well as its implementation and effectiveness. This project seeks also to develop highly consistent accounting standards at the international level.
At the end of the lecture, she stressed that facilitation of the adoption of IES is continuously underway through developing criteria to measure the accounting education process and the extent of compliance with such measures. In addition, quality control measures are to be put in place for the education process and a specific definition for this process will be developed.
IFAC is the organization sponsoring the accounting profession at the international level. Through its independent boards working on standards setting, IFAC develops international standards in the areas of auditing, education, ethics, assurance and public sector financial reporting.
ASCA/ Jordan seeks to encourage scientific and professional research through developing and facilitating the circulation and exchange of academic and professional knowledge among accountants and other professionals by organizing conferences, meetings, seminars, training courses and academic gatherings.
