ASCA Participates in MENA Regional Seminar on 'The Role of Training in Support of Public Accounting Reform'
ASCA presented two working papers focused on issues related to the significance of internal audit in the application of general financial reforms
AMMAN---July 12, 2011------- The Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA) took part in the MENA Regional Seminar on “The Role of Training in Support of Public Accounting Reform” held at the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea.
The Seminar was organized by the Training Center of the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with ASCA and supported by the Financial Reform Project funded by USAID and Agence Française de Développement of the French Ministry of Finance and Governance Institutes Forum for Training (GIFT – MENA) in addition to The Bassel Fleihan Institute of Finance in Lebanon.
ASCA presented two working papers focused on issues related to the significance of internal audit in the application of general financial reforms and the role in assuring quality and implementation of financial reform programs as well as the role of financial institutions in the application of internal audit in accordance with international standards and practices of the private sector.
Mr. Fahm Al Mousa, executive director of ASCA, highlighted the necessity of expanding the scope of cooperation between public and private sectors by means of partnerships and agreements that aim at serving the local and Arab society in the field of audit and accounting.
HE Dr. Mohammmad Abu Hamour, Minister of Finance, and Dr. Moustafa Al Barari, head of the Audit Bureau, inaugurated ASCA’s booth, which was organized on the sideline of the seminar and contained the latest specialized professional publications.
Dr. Abu Hamour commended ASCA continued efforts to serve the profession and the professionals across the Arab world.
The seminar also addressed four major topics including the modern trends in government accounting in addition to the best international and regional experiences as well as the role of training and capacity building in stimulating government accounting reforms and the international and regional experiences in developing specialized professional programs
