Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge IT Skills Diploma Qualifies Individuals with Special Needs
HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Calls on Spreading the Program to other Arab Countries
MUSCAT------ July 12, 2011-------- The Omani Institute for Professional Training, a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), announced the completion of a special program in Oman to train instructors preparing candidates for examinations for the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge IT Skills Diploma to work with people with special needs suffering from hearing impairment.
Around 17 trainers who themselves have hearing and speech impairment were trained and qualified in addition to a similar program targeting individuals with visual impairment.
The Executive Director of the Institute, Mr. Majdy Al Abyad, stressed that this project is one of the vital projects implemented by TAG-Org to qualify trainers for one of the best international programs aimed at minimizing digital illiteracy in the Arab world.
“Training lasted for two months including administrative skills as well as communication, presentation, evaluation and time management. The program also covered basic levels of English language,” he said.
“The Institute’s trainers sought the assistance of sign language expert. In terms of quality, the project was supervised by the Omani Information Technology Authority. In addition, the Authority conducted exams for participating trainers to verify suitability, qualifications and readiness. Then, they were dispatched to train people with special needs to work with computer programs in the knowledge centers established by the Authority throughout the Sultanate of Oman,” he added.
The Institute started to implement a training program for visually impaired individuals to qualify them to obtain Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge IT Skills Diploma, using internationally approved special programs for blind people to enable them to use a computer through hearing.
HE Abu-Ghazaleh called on spreading this project to all societies and institutions in the Arab countries targeting individuals with special needs to benefit, train and qualify as many of them as possible.
