Souq Al Quds E-Market Launched
Abu-Ghazaleh: We utilize the latest methods to support the persistence of the people of Jerusalem
Sinokrot: Persistence and technology are the identity of the upcoming stage
JERUSALEM and AMMAN--- June 30, 2011----- In support of the persistence of the Palestinian people in Jerusalem, and in implementation of the commitment of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Eng. Mazen Sinokrot and Dr. Sabri Saidam, former Ministers of Economy and Communications in Palestine, respectively, to establish and launch Souq Al Quds E-Market, Ultimate for Integrated Solutions Company- Ramallah and the Arab Company for Information Technology- Amman, a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, signed an agreement in Amman to develop an e-portal.
Such e-portal will serve this crucial civilizational project to be a vital commercial market between Palestine and the world, which shall allow displaying the commercial shops of the Old City of Jerusalem and the display of their products in a way that enables website visitors of comfortable shopping and of virtual tour around the Holy City including its religious and historical landmarks, particularly Al Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Resurrection and others.
In addition, a search engine will be provided to assist in a quick and easy access to required goods as well as quick delivery to buyers wherever they are. A feedback feature will be added so that website visitors are allowed to express their opinion on various contents of the website including shops, goods, prices and others. Also, the available quantities of different goods can be identified and an e-invoice can be issued for each purchase process. The most popular goods will also be determined. The e-payment portal will be electronically connected to the website.
The Old City of Jerusalem market is one of the largest historical markets in the world in terms of products, and includes 38.000 Arab residents as well as 1400 commercial outlets. The visitor enters the Old City through seven gates although the town’s area is one square kilometer only.
In addition, the market includes all oriental craft products and goods featuring the history and civilization of the Old City, including furniture, traditional oriental clothing, leathers and eastern foods.
The market includes hotel services represented in five hotels and it is considered a market of goods and services through which competent professionals can be hired in all sectors.
Commenting on this event, HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said: “Such a project represents an optimal utilization of technology in support of the persistence of people of Jerusalem, a unique investment of modern technology elements and an actual embodiment of acts against fake and useless promises habitually made to the people of Jerusalem.”
