AMMAN --------April 11, 2011 ------ The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG- Confucius) took part in the activities of the cultural day held at the Jubilee School under the title “Jubilee: the Mirror of Culture” which aimed at introducing various cultures and arts of different nations.
Various academic and cultural institutions as well as artistic and educational institutes participated in the exhibition. TAG – Confucius displayed various Chinese cultural activities such as documentaries about China, Chinese calligraphy, the traditional costumes of China’s ancient emperors, playing Chinese instruments and traditional collage.
Attendees had the opportunity to closely experience these aspects of the Chinese culture and try the Chinese calligraphy and collage as well as wearing Chinese traditional costumes.
Mr. Sami Al Kharouf, director of TAG – Confucius said "In addition to viewing the various aspects of Chinese culture, we shed a light on the services provided by TAG – Confucius including Chinese language courses for foreigners that target businessmen, diplomats and students, the various scholarships, lectures and workshops organized by TAG – Confucius.”
“We were keen, through our participation, to assert TAG – Confucius’ role and convey its mission in enhancing cultural communication in order to reach a deeper understanding between the Arab nations and China as well as supporting knowledge by means of participating in cultural, literary and educational programs," he added.
About Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute
Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute was established in September 2008 to promote the Chinese language and culture, in order to reach a better mutual understanding between Arab and Chinese cultures. This one-of-a-kind initiative is based on the cooperation agreement between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and the Confucius Institute in China.
The Institute was named after Confucius, the world-renowned great thinker, educator and philosopher in Chinese history. Confucius's thoughts have influenced China and other areas in the world for nearly 2000 years.
